Traction treatment is the safest basic and efficient non-surgery treatment for cure herniated lumbar disc. There are lots kinds of traction such as, three-dimensional traction, upside traction, continually inclined traction and anklebone traction treatment. Writer takes the portable lumbar traction device to do the traction treatment for cure 50 clinical cases and got a satisfied clinical curative effect. The result shows as below:

1 Material & Method

1.1 Common Material. The 50 cases are all clinical cases, 38 male cases, 12 female cases. Ages from 65 to 20 in the average of 41.7. Case history is from 3days to 10years in the average 7.6 month. Herniated part division: 6 casesL3-L4, 36 cases L4-L5 and 8 cases L5-S1, 8 cases simultaneously herniated both L4-L5 and L5-S1 which is 16% of the total cases. 11 central type cases and 39 non-central type. All the cases are examinations through X ray scan, CT scan and MRI. The clinical symptom and body examination are both accord with both the Chinese and western standards for diagnosis mentioned in “Herbalist Medicine Symptom Diagnosis Effect Standard”.

1.2 Treatment. Use portable lumbar traction device produced in Shijiazhuang Junwei Medical Device Co., Ltd, called YOCBO below to do the examination. The patient should lie down, sit down or stand up. Adjust the supporting bars in both sides to be symmetry first of all, and then tight the upper and lower pads as tight as possible until the patient feel discomfort able to avoid the forceless or skidded in traction process. Open the limiter in the rear of supporting bars; promote the bars up and down simultaneously with two hands. The traction force will be felled by patient and review on the limiter in N. the traction force always between 200-400N about 20 -40kg to satisfy the patient comfortable. Traction time will be controlled between 50-70mins and twice treatment period.

2 Results

Healed: 38 cases; 76%. Lower back and legs pain disappeared, the patient recovered to do the normal daily work. There is no positive result or recur. Effective: 10 cases; 20%. Mostly alleviate the symptom, the patient could do some daily works but with a little ache. No effective: 2 cases; 4%. Nothing changed after cure process. So it got a curative effect ration in 96%.

3 Discussions

Lumbar traction is one of the safest and efficient curative treatments in cure herniated lumbar disc. No matter neither traditional traction nor modern there-dimensional traction, the patients should all stay on beds. So it is very inconvenient and the widened space of vertebras is very easy to rebound back because the patient has to stand up and to do some work and activities after taking traction. Through doing traditional traction annulus fibrosus is difficult to restore and the herniated nucleus pulposus is very hard to replace, hereinto the edema, inflammation and muscle spam on vertebra joints, ligament, muscle and nerve root could not eliminate as for short of time. At the meanwhile, using YOCBO to do the continually traction and supporting localization will make the muscle around vertebra to be relaxed mostly, so the ligament under less muscle strength will be easy stretch and the ligament and annulus fibrosus will be stretch and tight which is good for herniated nucleus pulposus replacement. Through doting supporting localization, annulus fibrosus get enough time and condition to be restored in which way effects a radical cure. YOCBO's not limited to treatment time, place and body posture. Its traction force should be controlled within 20%-25%, and the patient could use it to do supporting localization in long run without arousing muscle spam and symptom deterioration. YOCBO's traction treatment is very simple, convenient and efficient, so worth to be recommended to use widely.
